Regional Compliance — UK, UAE & Saudi Arabia

Last updated: September 2026

MISYAR is operated from the United Kingdom and used across the Gulf. This page sets out how we meet the specific legal expectations of the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

United Kingdom

  • We process personal data under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, on the lawful bases set out in our Privacy Policy, and honour access, correction, deletion, portability and objection rights.
  • We apply the Online Safety Act 2023 duties expected of a user-to-user service: 18+ age assurance, illegal-content risk controls, clear reporting routes, and prompt takedown of priority illegal content.
  • We comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and report child sexual abuse material to the relevant UK authorities and hotlines.
  • Consumer rights, including the statutory 14-day cancellation right for digital subscriptions bought directly, apply to UK members.

United Arab Emirates

  • We align with Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data, including purpose limitation, consent for sensitive data, breach notification and cross-border transfer safeguards.
  • We apply Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 on Combating Rumours and Cybercrimes: content that is obscene, defamatory, insulting to religion, or that solicits prostitution is prohibited and removed.
  • We comply with Federal Law No. 51 of 2006 on Combating Human Trafficking and cooperate with UAE authorities on lawful requests.
  • MISYAR supports lawful marriage intentions only. Members are responsible for ensuring their conduct complies with UAE law and public decency standards.

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

  • We align with the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and its implementing regulations, including consent, data-subject rights, breach notification and controls over transfers outside the Kingdom.
  • We apply the Anti-Cyber Crime Law: content violating public order, religious values, public morals or privacy is prohibited and removed.
  • We comply with the Saudi Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law and the Anti-Harassment Law, and cooperate with the competent Saudi authorities.
  • Profile content standards reflect local decency expectations: no sexually suggestive imagery, no solicitation, and no content that offends religious values.

Local law prevails

  • Where the mandatory law of the country you use MISYAR from gives you stronger rights or imposes stricter standards than our general terms, that local law applies.
  • Regulators and authorities in any of these jurisdictions may contact us at support@misyar.app; see our Law Enforcement Protocols for the process.
